Session 2 = Intuition and Vision
We’re going to tune into our intuition and create a vision for our creative worlds.

How can we listen more deeply to what we’re naturally drawn toward?
Until our next meeting, your assignment is to —
journal on the questions above (where attention is drawn)
follow what you’re drawn to in micro ways
explore your creative landscape (see below)
write your vision for the next session
Writing Your Vision
A vision statement is written in the present tense and can be simple or complex, detailed or more feeling based. We’re going to explore writing a vision from all angles of the creative landscape, which you can then piece together to best reflect where you want to focus your energy, and what feels best to you personally in this phase of your life. Keep in mind that your vision will always be evolving and changing based on your own preferences, desires, chapter of life, and path of growth.
Taken from the rays of the sun above, we’re going to look at different aspects of a creative landscape (and we will explore these in more detailed ways in future sections together). Sometimes it can bring up pain to look at where we are versus where we want (or wanted) to be, and of course we can always bring in gratitude and appreciation for where we are right now. Yet on the flip side, envisioning where we want to go (which includes how we want to feel) can bring inspiration, momentum, clarity, and surprising alignment.
I began writing visions around ten years ago, and I’ve found that while they used to be based more on external things or experiences I wanted to call in, in this phase of life I’ve found my desires have shifted more toward how I want to feel, and that in itself informs my choices and desires. We’ll consider each ray of the sun as it’s own aspect of a creative life —
Daily Life - rhythm of the day, how time is spent, how we feel moment to moment
Creative Practice - how often to we engage with creativity, what kinds, how does it feel
Money + Finances - how to we earn money, how much, and what is our wealth in service to?
Community - what kind of community do we want to have around us, how does it feel
Collaboration - do we work alone or with others? and what does this feel like?
Exhibition or Live Performance - how much, how often, when do we engage with the world?
Physical Space or Location - where do we live, how do we feel in our physical space, travel
Health and Wellness - while we might tend to think of this as separate from our creative life, it informs everything
Other - anything else you want to add here
*Feeling States - beyond any material, practical, or creative desires, consider above all how you want to feel
While I don’t always believe that bigger is better or even necessarily more impactful, I want to ask with curiosity —
What are 1-3 things so big that you wouldn’t dare to place them in your vision?
Your fantasies and so-called delusional thinking are celebrated in this space :)
You can journal, brainstorm, or daydream about any or all of these topics to help inform your vision. Bring your vision statement to our next meeting (try to keep it under one page, or even shorter if you want), and we’ll share them together. In the following session, we’ll look at what’s underneath the vision—do we believe in the dreams, feelings, and desires we’ve set for ourselves? Why or why not? How can we shift our bodies, emotions, and psyches to find more alignment and agreement?
